Aikyam Change Ambassador

NATCO School of Learning

Gollamudipadu, Andhra Pradesh, India

My background and how I became a teacher...

I have completed M.Sc in microbiology and M.Ed at Acharya Nagarjuna University. I teach at the NATCO School of Learning. It is in a rural area called Gollamudipadu in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. Teaching was not my choice. I came to this profession by chance. Originally, I wanted to become an IAS officer, but due to several reasons could not pursue that. Now that I have been a teacher for 7 years, I am very satisfied with the profession I chose. I teach science to students in grades 6 and 7, and biology to students in grades 9 and 10.

My inspiration...

I would say that my inspiration is my husband. He has supported me in my entire journey pursuing higher education and becoming a teacher. I had not completed my undergraduate studies when I got married.  My husband encouraged and supported me in every way possible to continue my studies and pursue a career in teaching. I am extremely thankful to him because he motivated and inspired me to do something meaningful in life. Something that I had not imagined was possible for me.

My experience with Aikyam...

Right from childhood onwards, it has been my dream to do something for society. When the school management introduced the Aikyam program, I did not know much about the program and its goals. It was difficult to follow in the beginning, but the experience was very good once the children got interested and we started on our project. With the interaction with students from other schools, members of the community, and exchange of ideas I could see the transformation in the children. And in myself as I was learning a lot from them as well. The children set high standards for the project as they wanted to reach the next level. There was even friendly competition with the other Aikyam team. But in the end, it was great experience as we all worked as a team and supported each other.
