My background...

I received my entire education, from pre-school to post-graduation in Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh. I completed both my B. Pharm and M. Pharm degrees in Bapatla College of Pharmacy. And I started my teaching career at the same college as an assistant professor. I have been teaching for 2 years. I teach pharmacognosy, physical pharmaceutics, and novel drug delivery systems.

My approach to teaching...

Initially, I was not interested in teaching. It was the best option available to me after graduation. I enjoy the fact that, as a teacher, I must learn every day. I must learn things in depth so I can teach as well as address my students’ questions. Before any lecture, I refer to books and online sources to collect as much information on the topic as I can. I start my classes with a quiz to test the students on what they have learned in previous class. I keep my classes interactive, and when I find out that the students are not getting it, I repeat the same topic again. I keep them interested and engaged by keeping it light with humorous anecdotes and drawing parallels to movies and stories. Anything that can hold their attention. I am considered a friendly and not so strict teacher, so the students are more relaxed with me. They interact easily with me.

My advice to graduating students...

I give advice to mt students about career opportunities and how to choose one, whether it is in higher education or the industry. I refer students to the people I know so they can expand their network. I tell them that they must work hard, learn how to communicate with other colleagues. I share my own experiences with them to make my advice more relatable.

My Aikyam experience...

Aikyam has been a very different experience for all of us. It has helped the students overcome their fear of speaking in a group setting, expressing their point of view, and brainstorming as a group.  It has been beneficial for them to develop their creative thinking skills as well. I have developed myself - learning to listen to other’s point of view.
